Folk and Mass Culture....


Folk culture refers to the lifestyle of a culture. Orally it has been handed down through generations and it prefers older traditions and a sense of community. Folk Culture is and was contained by the learned. It was held on together by the people who heard, collected, edited, and published the songs and stories that they learned from the folk.
Mass Culture is seen as a commercial culture and was set up tot keep people in their place. For example, the elite and those who could become cultured should be on one level while others who are not and cannot become culture should stay on another level.
